Nick and Niko

And this is what these two boys do when they get together . . . wrestle!

The New Van

We got a new (used) van at the end of December. Not because we wanted to. We really liked our old van. But there comes a point when the repairs are costing more than getting a new vehicle. And then the final straw that broke the camel's back . . .
I don't know much about cars. But I have been told this is a piston rod sticking out of the oil pan. Not a good thing.

Sweethearts

Thomas and Hannah went to the Sweethearts dance together.
It was fun making the corsage, but it took quite a while because I was out of practice.

My Favorite Bowl

This is my favorite bowl! It use to belong to my Grandma Wright. I smile every time I use it. Isn't it beautiful?!

Something to Smile About

Heavenly and Nick get to come over every couple of weeks for a sleep over. This little girl just warms my heart and makes me smile. I thought I would share a moment with you.

A Big Boy Fort

What age do boys grow out of wanting to build forts? I have no idea! Why? Because my teenage son and his friend recently asked if they could build a fort in the movie room. This fort was a little more complicated than throwing a blanket over a table. It was two stories that included an entry way, master bedroom, theater room, lower bedroom, kitchen, a changing room, a living room, and air conditioning.

I wish this picture could do it justice. It was quite a sight. Here's to having boys!

A New Old Plate

I took Thomas and Hannah to a few thrift stores yesterday to look for roller blades. I had to look through the dishes too. Look at this beautiful old plate I found for my collection. I loved it so much I wanted to buy all four that the store had. It was only $0.99! I think it is my new favorite.

Todd's New Year's Day

Todd is spending most of his New Year's Day building a chicken coop.

2009

Hardest Moments of 2009:
  • Saying goodbye to Nick and Heavenly . . . twice.
  • The death of our family dog of 12 years.

Favorite moments of 2009:
  • Seeing my daughter marry a wonderful young man in the temple.
  • Taking my first college class in over 20 years and acing it.
  • Going without Christmas presents. It truly was the best Christmas ever.

As I sit here reflecting on the past year so many wonderful memories come flooding back to me. This favorite moments list could go on and on. Yes, there was several lasting moments of hardships and sadness. But I look back on my life throughout this past year feeling greatly blessed.

Happy New Year to all my family and friends. I wish you health, happiness, love, and prosperity this new year and far into the future.
