A Chair

A Friend was moving to a new house and didn't have room to take this with her.
Ta da!  I recovered it!
My kids are so excited to not sit on a cold metal folding chair when I cut their hair now!

Institute Choir

I kind of thought we had seen the end of Thomas' choir performance days.  But no.  He's been hanging out at institute choir.  I really enjoyed watching him perform again.

Adding a Name

I finally got our family picture hung on the wall.  I use the term "I" quite loosely here because, in reality,  it was Todd who did the work after I explained to him how much I wanted to get it up on the wall.  And reminded him about several of the last times when I attempted to hang something on the wall.  That's all that needs to be said here.

It was hard to place it at the right height.  I felt like it needed to be lined up with the top of the sconces.  Because I like things all even.  But then everyone would have to strain their necks to look at it.  So we settled on placing it here.  It really needed something more.  It needed a project that would allow me to forget about all the things I needed to get done that day and do something I wanted to do instead.  I think this story sounds familiar . . .
The project consisted of a trip to Hobby Lobby, black paint, a paint brush, and some sand paper.  And an afternoon painting letters and scuffing them up a little to look old.
I am much happier with the picture placement now.

A Letter

A letter came in the mail today from . . .
 Thomas read the letter . . .
This is what it said . . .

You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  You are assigned to labor in the Mexico Villahermosa Mission . . .

A Favorite Snack

Nori.  Seaweed.  Who would have thought my children would like this?!  I need to rephrase that . . . Who would have thought my children would LOVE this?!
It's one of their favorite snacks!

Which Finger?

I have been wearing my wedding ring on my middle finger a lot lately because it is so loose on my ring finger that I am worried it is going to slip off.  I guess it is about time for a re-sizing.

A Motorcycle

Thomas is always working on some project.  And it usually is not a small, easy project.  He jumps in with both feet to learn something new.

His newest project . . . fixing up a motorcycle.  How much money out of his pocket did he pay for this motorcycle?  $200.  There is a little story behind that too.  Ask him about it if you get a chance.
The plan is to fix it up and sell it to help pay for his mission.

Coffee

I have always LOVED the smell of coffee.  Yes, I just had to go back and capitalize the word loved because I really LOVE the smell of coffee.  But we don't drink coffee.  So why do I have a coffee grinder in my home?
To grind my flax seeds of course which I throw into green smoothies or our flax seed muffin recipe or whatever suits my fancy.  Did I really just say, "Suits my fancy?"  Flax is so good for you, but it has to be ground or it will just go right through you and not leave any of its amazing nutrients behind.
I have another coffee implement in my house that I use everyday.  A french coffee press.  Because it's suppose to be the best way to make coffee.  No, I don't make coffee in it.  I make Choffy.
I must say, I am a little . . . is there another word I can use here in place of addicted?  Addicted sounds too harsh.
It's yummy.  Especially with a little half & half and some stevia.  My first sip of Choffy was plain.  I was not very excited about it.  My first cup was okay.  But by the time I drank a second cup, I could hardly wait for my third and forth.
So what is Choffy?  It's brewed chocolate.  100% premium cacao beans roasted and ground just like they roast and grind coffee.  No caffeine.  And it's CHOCOLATE.  Read about it on their website. Drink Choffy. And read about how good it is for you too.
Don't worry.  I am not a distributor (it's a mlm).  I bought mine on the website.

I'd love to make you a cup if you want to try it out.  Come on over.

Happy Birthday, Marie

It is so interesting to me how the kids get so specific about what they want on their birthday.  And how it changes or doesn't change from year to year.  We pretty much let them pick their breakfast and lunch menu.
Marie wanted an english muffin with strawberry jam and a white smoothie.  We make our white smoothies with almond milk, coconut water, a banana, a little honey, ice,  and about 24 almonds that have been soaked overnight.  Yummy!
The kids love getting woke up to breakfast in bed.  We all sit around their room in our pajamas and watch them eat.
No cake for Marie this year.  She chose chocolate satin pie from Marie Calendar's.
